OUR SERVICES

The Hawai`i Street Outreach Program will increase the safety, well-being, self-sufficiency and number of permanent connections with caring adults among runaway, homeless,and street youth ages 12-21 in Hawai’i by:

1. Encouraging

Encouraging runaway, homeless and street youth to leave the streets and to make other personal choices regarding where they live and how they behave.

2. Providing

Providing street -based services to runaway, homeless, and street youth who have been subjected to or at risk of being subjected to sexual abuse, prostitution,or sexual exploitation

3. Coordination

Coordination and sustaining partnerships that strengthen the integration of comprehensive services to address the needs of the homeless youth population in order to increase protective factors and reduce risk factors that impact effective transition to adulthood.

Street-based Outreach & Education

Encouraging runaway, homeless and street youth to leave the streets and to make other personal choices regarding where they live and how they behave.

Survival Aid

During Street Outreach and at Drop-in Center here at Hale `Ōpio we can distribute food, water, toiletries, hygiene supplies, cards, brochures, condoms, laundry detergent, sewing kits, band-aids, etc.

MONDAY- FRIDAY 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Referrals to shelter and other services

THE NEED IS REAL

According to the Dept.of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Hawai`i has the highest rate of homelessness per capita of the 50 states.

Target Population

Runaway, homeless and street youth up to age 21 including LGBTQ Youth, who are runaway, homeless, at risk of being homeless, currently live in exploitative, or spend most of their time on the streets. Youth will come into the program through our own and other street community outreach efforts, word of mouth, homeless adults, community agency workers, police and self-referrals.
